Explanation
Air is disinfected by exposing microbial cells and the secondary and tertiary structures of viral proteins to constant electric fields of critical intensity. The air flow passes through constant electric fields created by transversely arranged electrodes made of highly porous conductive foam-metal plates, which are permeable to the air. The electrodes are connected to a high voltage power supply in such a way as to have alternating polarity
